In phase I of the initiative, a comprehensive survey was developed to assess the educational value of the CIEF programs. The second phase consists of 11 case studies developed by CIEF members based on their clinical experience with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil). Presented in an engaging format, these case studies are available here for use in educational venues.

Educational Effectiveness: Outcomes Evaluation of the NeuroRehab Preceptor Training Program This CME-certified Outcomes Measurement White Paper reviews the program objectives and educational results of the NeuroRehab Preceptor Program titled Identification and Management of Spasticity and Muscle Overactivity in Upper Motor Neuron Syndrome: A Hands-on Approach. The NeuroRehab Preceptor Program provided a one-on-one and two-on-one forum in which a preceptor (a specialist in treating spasticity, muscle overactivity, and spastic paresis) mentored practicing neurologists and physiatrists and neurology and physiatry residents in a clinical setting. In a ¾-day program, the preceptor reviewed patients with spasticity or other conditions that result from upper motor neuron syndrome with the participating physicians at the physicians’ or preceptor’s office, clinic, or institution. This paper evaluates how the program’s innovative training method impacted physicians’ skills with differential diagnosis, identifying appropriate treatment options, setting goals, and reviewing protocols for various pharmacologic therapies for patients affected with spasticity and muscle overactivity.
